Started my career as a staff reporter in the Daily Sangbad in 2004 just after appearing in Master of Arts final examination. The Daily Sangbad is the oldest Bengali Daily newspaper in the country. I feel exceptionally lucky as we 5 interns got a 4 months mentorship under the most iconic Editor Late Bazlur Rahman. He taught us the basics of reporting, interview technique, asking question, dealing with people, behavioral pattern and the most importantly becoming a good human being. Then I must mention the name of another two legendary senior most journalists in Bangladesh Mr Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Saiful Amin. They were my Chief News Editor and Chief Reporter in Sangbad. To me, it was a blessing because The Daily Sangbad is an institution where a cub reporter gets perfect orientation and grooming. I worked there for a year and covered law, justice and parliament affairs and business issues. And then, my storytelling career started in Channel-i from the year 2005 till to date.
Once again, I got the best mentors here in Channel-i. Shykh Seraj and Faridur Reza are the directors of Channel-i. Basically they are the products of Bangladesh Television. So they are the pioneers in the private satellite TV industries. I travel a lot with Shykh Seraj and try to learn from the magician maker. Every citizen might know how popular his “Ridoye Mati O Manush”, “Krishoker Eid Anondo” or Krishi Budget, Krishoker Budget”. I am thrilled to say that in my small capacity I am contributing a bit in the process of making. Besides this, Shykh Seraj is an enthusiastic teacher. He is very friendly with us every time while talking regarding camera, light and editing. I am greatly indebted to him for his charismatic teaching and knowledge sharing. He taught me how to write a script following the visuals. Nowadays as the social media platform is very much important so we the reporters make contents for the digital media and upload on Channel-i Facebook and YouTube pages. Primarily I am a visual storyteller, producing reports everyday but sometimes I need play the role of a videographer and the role of a video editor, specially while on foreign trips. Of course, in this era of digital media revolution and as the citizen journalism is getting more attention a smart phone is enough sometime for producing a quality content and I do so.
From the very beginning I have been covering Economic and Business-related issues. My prime task in Channel-i to follow Finance Minister, Planning Minister daily activities and to make reports for Channel-i news. In addition to that I follow Commerce Minister, Industry Minister and the associated organizations like National Board of Revenue NBR, Bangladesh Banks, Commercial Banks, Insurance companies, Non-Banking Financial Institutions, Trade Bodies and Associations like FBCCI, MCCI, DCCI, FICCI, AMCHAM, Export promotion Bureau EPB, Tariff Commission and Multilateral Development Partners like World Bank, IMF, ADB, USAID, AIIB, JICA, KOIKA and China Aid. As Bangladesh is the worst victim of climate change, so I keep eyes on climate financing, climate smart agriculture research, draught and flood tolerant varieties of seeds. As Shykh Seraj is our head of News and Director, agriculture is given much importance in Channel-i. And so, I cover the agricultural production, marketing, value addition, processing industries, successful entrepreneurs, innovation and research.
Apart from the news and current affairs day to day task, I host talk shows for the audience of Channel-i as and when required. Starting from the very popular “To The point” to “Tax Helpline”. Sometimes my office assigns me to anchor talk shows based on any subject.
